The place

A private compound in Las Tunas

Three buildings—the Adobe House, the Studio and the Casita—sit around gardens, courtyards and a saltwater pool, all of it behind one wall. You get the whole compound.

The Adobe House and the Casita each have a full kitchen. Everyone shares the pool, the gardens and the long table outside. Playa Las Tunas is a five-minute walk.

Art and architecture

Built by a sculptor, expanded by an architect

The sculptor Peter Ambrose built Casa del Arte as his home and studio, and it grew around the work he made and collected.

His son Garrick, an architect, added the white modernist buildings alongside the original adobe. The two sit next to each other and share a garden.

Art from Mexico and elsewhere is still part of ordinary days here—on plinths, in niches, along the path to the pool. Most guests notice something on day three they walked past twenty times on day one.

At Casa del Arte

The pool, the long table, your own room

Four bedrooms across three buildings means a group can spend the day together at the pool and still have somewhere to close a door at nine at night.

Most of the compound's life happens outdoors: coffee in whichever courtyard has the early sun, the pool through the middle of the day, dinner under the pergola.

During your stay

Armando and Marisela

Armando manages the house. He'll be in touch before you arrive, meet you at check-in, and help with transport or planning if that's useful. He stays close by through the week without hovering.

Morning service is optional and available every day, weekends included. Marisela makes breakfast and keeps the house in order, so nobody is working around you all afternoon.

The compound

Three buildings, four bedrooms

Four bedrooms across the Adobe House, the Studio and the Casita sleep up to eight. The pool, gardens, outdoor dining area and both kitchens belong to the whole group. Getting from a bedroom to breakfast means walking outside, which turns out to be the best part.

The Adobe House

Original adobe rooms, thick walls, the art collection, and one fully equipped kitchen.

The Studio

A separate modernist building with a king bed, queen bed, ensuite, and outdoor shower.

The Casita

Two bedrooms, two baths, a fully equipped kitchen, and a separate entrance.

Pool & terraces

Saltwater pool, shaded outdoor living room, pool-house cantina, and long outdoor table.
